On the 29th of January 2018 at about 2:45pm, police responded to a report of a road traffic accident on the Burrell Boom/ Hattieville Road. Upon arrival, officers observed a Black Toyota Rav 4 SUV in the middle of the road with damages to the front portion and about 300 feet away was a Blue MACK Truck that was carrying a bulldozer. Initial investigation revealed that around 2:30pm, Anselm GILLETT, 47 year old Belizean Businessman of a Burrell Boom Village address, was driving his Blue MACK brand truck on the Burrell Boom/Hattieville road from the Direction of Burrell Boom towards Hattieville and about a mile and half pass the dump site, he noticed the Black Toyota Rav 4, traveling in the opposite direction, swerved into the left lane. As a result, GILLETT slowed down and attempted to drift closer to the right hand side of the road, however, the Toyota Rav 4 which was driven by George YOUNG, 77 year old Belizean Retiree of Burrell Boom Village, collided into the bulldozer causing extensive damage to the front portion. Urine sample was taken from Anselm GILLETT and he had been issued with a Notice of Intended Prosecution. George YOUNG succumbed to his injuries. Police investigation continues.



On the 27th of January 2018, officers responded to a report of a Road Traffic Accident at mile 1 on George Price Drive, Dangriga Town. Upon arrival, officers observed a small white Isuzu goods truck parked in a yard and a black, red and white Cool Boy Motor Cycle extensively damaged. Initial investigation revealed that at about 12:45pm, Manuel COCOM, 49 year old Belizean Businessman of a Dangriga address, was traveling on George Price Drive and upon approaching his residence he took a left turn into his entrance way when the cycle collided into the driver’s side of the truck. The driver of the cycle, Eric BARAHONA, 18 year old Belizean Student of Sarawee Village, sustained head and body injuries and was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was listed in a stable condition. His passenger, Rudolf EMMANUEL, 19 year old Belizean Construction Worker of Sarawee Village, received minor injuries and was treated and release from the hospital. A Notice of Intended Prosecution was issued to Manuel COCOM. Police investigation continues.
